The enquiry
Having worked with the designer previously, they asked us whether we would like to review this plan and meet with the clients.
The job
The plan had many different aspects to it that required separate focus. We began on the large, curved retaining brick wall which has created a beautiful area for sitting and enjoying in the evening.
Following this we set out and created the brick pathways – the beautiful shapes give a formal, traditional entrance to the property which will age beautifully in keeping with the cottage.
We then flanked the flower beds with steel edging, which ages elegantly and lasts the test of time compared to a timber alternative. It keeps the soil within the planting areas and gives sharp focus between the shingle and the planting.
Finally, we laid some turf and shingle to keep things neat. Whilst turf isn’t often as cheap an option as grass seeding, it does provide instant grass cover instead of waiting for it to grow! However, the time of year is something to consider as seed won’t establish quickly in winter and new turf is quite high maintenance in the height of summer.
How long did it take?
Four weeks
What do we love about it?
The curved walls and brick pathways are timeless – an elegant additional to a beautiful property.
Don't worry if you need to phone and ask something vague. Believe it or not, most projects start with big unanswered questions like 'how long?' or 'would it be possible?'. That's why we're here, just give us a call and we'll give you the best advice we can to help get you underway.
