The enquiry

One of our trusted designer contacts introduced us to this client who had recently moved into the area and wanted a courtyard garden that would be low maintenance but would be an amazing feature to her beautiful home. The client has a keen interest in horticulture and design and was very involved in the process – she is particularly excited about sourcing fantastic plants for the planting areas.

The job

The trickiest aspect in the planning of this project was the access to the house (via an ancient, village lane with other properties lining the road) and  the garden itself is raised up from the drive via steps, so we needed to be creative about how we got the materials to site.

We organised for all deliveries to come from our suppliers on small lorries and all bulk materials were lifted directly in the garden via a crane. We also built a temporary ramp for people and tools to get into the garden!

What do we love about it?

The planting pockets in the patio are a fantastic idea thought of by the client, who is planning to plant thymes and other herbs in the gaps. These will create incredible mediterranean scents as they are crushed under foot and will make for a wonderfully romantic escape in summer.

We also love the beautiful design which suits the historic village of Lavenham and this property perfectly.
