Block paved driveway – Bures

Project Type:

Block paving

Project Duration:

2 weeks

The enquiry

We had worked with this client previously in their garden and so they contacted us directly after deciding they wanted to improve their drive.

The job

There was a lot more to this project than immediately meets the eye as the client also asked us to do the groundworks to fix a leaking water pipe running under the front garden. They took it as an opportunity to improve the area at the same time!

We first focused on getting through the existing concrete (there was a lot of it!) and removing it from site. We needed to work closely with the local water company to ensure that the tench dug for their pipe was deep enough and met their regulations.

As it can take time for the water company to visit and sign off works, we then also started laying the Tobermore Tegula pavers with a gully drain at the bottom to collect any rain water run-off from flooding onto the road.

Finally we dug over a large bed for the client to plant up over time.

How long did it take?

Two weeks

What do we love about it?

Block paving is suitable to be driven on and so makes a very smart solution for driveways. It is also semi-permeable as rain water can escape through the joins between the pavers – however its worth bearing in mind that it does require a little bit of maintenance by topping up the sand between the joins every few years.
